Adaptive Launches Top-of-the-Line eReader to Drastically Improve PaxEx Inflight & Maximize Accessibility of IFE Content

Boston, MA – September 24, 2018 – At APEX 2018, Adaptive, developer of ACES, a sophisticated mobile inflight entertainment (IFE) and digital press solution that is used by leading global airlines – including two of three of the top-rated global carriers - and high-end airports, has launched the top-of-the-line Adaptive Digital Reader, a brand-new eReader designed to improve passengers’ experience when reading press and magazine content inflight.

ACES delivers curated content in multiple languages, encompassing diverse, globally-relevant media, along the entire customer journey - before, during and after the flight – and was designed to function either as a standalone IFE solution or a complement to a seatback or wireless IFE solution, for all types and sizes of airlines and for all types of routes. With the addition of the new eReader, ACES solution is completely turn-key, providing passengers with the best IFE experience, on the top eReader available on the market, a large library of content and an easy-to-use interface, that will appeal to all passengers, no matter their technological knowledge or abilities.

The new eReader offers a modern user interface, intuitive navigation and brand-new user experience (UX) features, such as the ability to bookmark favorite content, a table of contents and a slider/navigation rail (which can be hidden to make it easier to read content), which makes it easier for readers to find their desired page. The new eReader also integrates familiar usability features (as users will be familiar with from Apple devices, such as iPhones and iPads), including swiping up/down to find/hide the table of contents, pinch or double tap to zoom in/out and the ability to bookmark a page with a long press on the touchscreen.

“We launched our ACES IFE mobile solution 6 years ago and from day one, we offered a high-quality IFE solution to thousands of passengers on airlines across the globe,” said Laurent Safar, CEO of Adaptive. “During the six years that passengers have been using our technology, we have collected massive amounts of data on how passengers use IFE during their flight, as well as the features that they would like to see implemented in IFE technology to improve their experience; using this information, we created the new, top-of-the-line Adaptive Digital Reader, which integrates all these desired features… and more.”

In addition to the UX upgrades made on the new Adaptive Digital Reader, the device offers many additional features that will make all of ACES’ IFE content more accessible for all passengers, no matter their physical limitations, including:

  • Choice of reading in either full-page mode or article mode (which zooms to show a single article at-a-time)

  • An interactive and comprehensive table of contents, making it easier to access specific content, without going page-by-page

  • The ability to change the text elements of the content, including the font, the font size and spacing, and update the background color and contrast, to make it easier for people with limited vision to perceive/read the content

“Thousands of people travel every single day, in airports around the world,” said David Fairand, Co-Founder and COO at Adaptive. “Out of those thousands, a large percentage of people who are traveling – and attempting to use the IFE during their trip – have physical limitations that make traditional IFE systems unusable. As a company, we believe in being inclusive and we wanted our product to enjoyable and entertaining for all passengers (on our clients’ flights) – and the Adaptive Digital Reader is the first step in making that a reality.”
